How to Keep Your Hemp Buds and Moonrocks as Fresh as the Day You Bought Them

In the hemp plant, there are many different types of cannabinoids, such as CBD. CBG, Delta 8, and HHC. And all have their own wellness benefits. In addition, hemp flowers can contain other valuable compounds, such as terpenes and flavonoids.

For those seeking an extra potent experience, hemp moonrocks are also available, which are essentially hemp buds coated in a layer of concentrate and then rolled in kief (the resinous trichomes from the plant). But regardless of what type of hemp flower product you have, proper storage is key to maintaining freshness and potency.

Here are some tips for storing your buds, moonrocks and other hemp flower products:

  1. Use an airtight container: No matter what type of hemp flower product you have, it's essential to store it in an airtight container to prevent exposure to air. Mason jars, vacuum-sealed bags, and other airtight containers work well. Our 4-gram flower jars are air-tight, you can save these jars and reuse them.
  2. Keep away from light: Light can degrade the compounds in hemp flowers, including CBD and other cannabinoids. Store your hemp flower products in a cool, dark place to protect them from light.
  3. Maintain a consistent temperature: Temperature fluctuations can also affect the quality of your hemp flower products. Avoid storing them in areas that experience extreme temperature changes, such as near a window or heating/cooling vent. A consistent temperature between 60-70°F (15-21°C) is ideal.
  4. Don't store in the fridge or freezer: While it may appear to be a good idea to put your hemp flower items in the fridge or freezer to keep them fresh, the chilly temperatures can cause moisture to build, leading to mold and mildew growth. In addition, storing at a low freezer temperature may cause the trichomes to become brittle and snap off.
  5. Check for mold and mildew: Since you are dealing with organic “plant matter,” once you open the jar, the buds and moonrocks are exposed to oxygen. And therefore, mold and mildew growth on hemp flower products is possible. Keep an eye out for mold or mildew symptoms such as a musty odor, discoloration, or fuzzy spots. If you find any mold or mildew, throw away the buds right away to avoid them from spreading.

Following these tips, you can ensure that your buds, moonrocks, and other hemp flower products maintain their freshness, flavor, and potency for as long as possible.  Whether you're using hemp flower products for their potential wellness benefits, for self-care or simply for their enjoyable effects, proper storage is key to getting the most out of your experience.
